Under cover Spies found in Brisbane!
John Wikman joins Damien Lee to preview his latest romp of espionage, intrigue, fun and adventure with “Spies In Disguise.”
Written, composed, directed and produced by John Wikman, the show is a clever fast moving spoof in the vein of 60’s – 70’s characters Get Smart and Austen Powers wherefour inexperienced agents working for US secret service organisation NICE put their lives on the line against the sneaky vicious Russian group NORTi to solve 10 missionsin 7 days.
“I originally had the idea to write a musical with different styles of music to reflect different countries based on a spy concept back in 2009 when I produced my showSecret Travel Agents (STA),” John says.
In STA the spies travelled to more to I5 countries carrying bags and collecting items ondangerous missions where they encountered many devious characters and weird situations.
For this 2015 version he decided to scale back to 10 countries and flesh out the characters with more written and physical humour after refreshing his memory of Get Smart episodes.
John has written 14 original songs in the style of countries like Saudi Arabia, India, France, Mexico, China, Italy, Brazil, Scotland and Germany.
Mr. Wikman has had a long-standing passion for music and involvement in live theatre since the 1980’s. He has written, produced and directed eight full scale musical shows.
